The Digatron Systems PSU is an automatic machine designed to heat-seal three sides of pouch cells used in Li-ion battery production and trim them to the desired dimensions.

The operator places the cell into a workpiece carrier connected to an automatic handling system and initiates the sealing cycle.

During the cycle, the workpiece carrier moves through three stations. At the first station, the machine automatically trims the pouch to give the cell its desired shape. At the second station, the sides of the cell’s tab are heat-sealed. The third station completes the heat sealing on the flat bottom side of the cell, while leaving an open the side of cells with excess gas pouch for the subsequent filling step.

Once the sealing cycle is finished, the workpiece carrier returns to the unloading position. The operator then removes the finished cell and places the next cell into the jig for processing.
